At least 2020 is not ALL bad (our Diwali experience)

Hey Dreamers! How's it goin' in Dreamland? Today we'll be sharing what we did this Diwali! YAY! Who's excited? We are! We had a LOT of fun this Diwali and we can't wait to share it with you guys (god, we sound so show-off ish lol)! Without further ado, here's how we celebrated this Diwali!

We both were super pumped for this Diwali because we hadn't properly celebrated Diwali for the past three years before this as we were out of town or country for the past three. So Diwali 2020 was a SUPER big deal to us! We wanted the FULL Diwali experience. So we went all out!

First, shopping for clothes.
We got this kinda oversized (in a cute way) light blue denim dress that was right above our knee with a flower patch on it. It was super cute and we loved it so we got it! And yes, we got the same dress.

Second, decorating. What's Diwali without lights and flowers? (we did this the day before Diwali - 13 November 2020, Friday)
We got some decorative diyas from Westside (that's also were we got our dress) and we got a LOT of pink and yellow flowers. We celebrated this Diwali at our grandparents' (which is like thirty minutes away from our home) like we always did. For decorating, our grandma stringed the flowers and we hanged it up on the porch! We then put up cereal lights and set up the diyas (we had a total of 15 diyas) on the porch! It looked really pretty and gave out some major festive vibes.

Third, let's celebrate! (14 November 2020 - a.k.a Diwali)
It was finally Diwali and we were celebrating it with our grandparents, our Aunt (dad's sister) with her family and of course, our parents.

I woke up around seven (which is super early from me), took a hair wash, put on my new dress and went out to the porch where I joined my dad and granddad. Sunethra joined me after a while, after getting ready at like eight rme.

We both ate our breakfast and we were all waiting for our cousin sisters, aunt and uncle to arrive at our grandparents'. Our aunt and uncle had come to our grandparents' four days before Diwali, but on Diwali they left earlier that day to pick up our cousin sisters from the airport.

Around 10 AM, they finally arrived. We all greeted each other and went inside and we were all just chillin' and talking in the living room. Guess that's what Diwali is mostly about - family. Our cousin sisters also gifted us necklaces! We loved it so much and we also put it on for the rest of the day because it totally went with our dress.

At around 11 or 12 AM, we planned on having a little photo session 'cause hey, we can't let the dresses got to waste! We took a lot of photos outside, near the porch with all of our family.

After that, around 1 or 2 PM, we had lunch out in the garden. We set up a little table where we put all the food and we all helped ourselves to the food we wanted. We talked and had a lot of fun.

After an hour or so, once we were done with lunch and talking, we all went back inside. We figured we'll all watch a movie in the evening so the both of us, one of our cousin sister and our granddad stayed back on the porch and set up the projector with the screen and speaker. It took us a long time to figure that out, as it was the first time we were setting it up. After two long hours, the projector was finally set up and we connected it to the laptop. We set up the chairs and we played the movie when everyone were seated.

The movie we watched was amazing! It was definitely worth the watch. Once it was done, it was around 7.30 to 8 PM. We lit up the diyas and turned on the cereal lights and boy, it looked beautiful! The golden cereal lights went perfectly with the diyas and yellow flowers! It looked so pretty and definitely felt like Diwali!

Next, we planned on bursting the fire crackers. We changed into our pajamas real quick and burst crackers. Also, guys we didn't burst a lot of crackers, just a lil bit 'cause we ain't gonna pollute our Mother Earth. We didn't burst all the fire crackers that day. We burst only some on Diwali and the rest, we burst the next day. I only did sparklers, 'cause any other firework scares the hell out of me. I mean that in the MOST serious way possible (told ya, I was a scaredy cat).  After that, we went on to have dinner. We had dinner in our backyard under the moon (how beautiful does that sound?). We all, as a family, were sittin' together, talking and eating. And then guess what? We planned to watch yet another movie. It was around 9:10 pm ish when we were about to watch it. It was a pretty good movie and it certainly made us laugh so hard. Eventually, the movie got over at like 12 AM (midnight) and we all headed to sleep (we were hella tired)

So that was our Diwali 2020 experience guys! Hope you enjoyed reading it! We had a great time this Diwali and we hope you guys did too! It made 2020 way better than it was. Love y'all! X

Shinin' like sparkles and glowin' like candles,
Pranavaa and Sunethra

P.S. This was our Diwali. How was yours?
