To our past selves - Part 1

Hey Dreamers! How's it goin' in Dreamland? Today, as you already read from the title, we'll be writing to our past selves! Pranavaa did this exercise in her English class and it was pretty fun, so we thought we'd put it on here! This one's Pranavaa's. Sunethra's will be up Sunday! Now let's get into it!

Dear past self,

Do you know I hated you?

When the world started to change around me because of you-probably-don't-wanna-know-why, I became more conscious of you. I looked back at you and realized the person you were. The different aspects of you, your very confusing behavior, and your immature self. You hurt people even though you didn't intend to, you made irrational decisions, you judged people, you talked behind people's backs and you pretended to be someone you're not, all because you wanted to 'fit in'. Oh, how I hated you back then smh.

But then I understood where you come from. You wanted to be perfect and that meant saying yes to everything and laugh at all the comments being thrown at you even though everything broke you inside, little by little.

Well, it's about time you listen to your idol's words.

"A real girl isn't perfect and a perfect girl isn't real" - Harry Styles

Pranavaa, if you let others control you and your happiness and you let others decide what and who you are and you live for other's happiness for the rest of your life, the little broken pieces left inside you will shatter.

You write your story. Live for yourself and yourself only. You don't need to be 'perfect' and 'fit in'. Let your quirks and flaws shine through and be one of a kind. At the end of the day, all that matters is you.

Thank me later,

Your future self

P.S. I love you. The real you.

That's all for this post guys! Hope you liked it! Make sure to follow our blog by clicking the follow icon present in the sidebar. We'll meet you this Sunday with Sunethra's letter! Love y'all! x

Give us pen and paper and we'll see you in a million years,

Pranavaa and Sunethra

P.S. Writing letters help heal your relationships with people. Give it a go!

Post postscript: You don't actually need to post the letter. You can keep it to yourself. Putting your feelings on paper just takes it off your chest and makes it a thousand times better. Whether it's anger, hate, forgiveness, gratefulness or anything else; it's up to you. The letter could be to anyone you want to tell something or confess something to!

  7. Hey! Lovely post! I remember doing something similar on Written Beyond. The thing is, yours was much easier to understand than mine, and I had a lot more fun reading yours. You managed to teach your younger self something; express yourself, while I just... blabbered on. No wonder I did those stupid things. My past elder self must have written the same letter to me (lmao!)

Anyway, loved it! Waiting for Sunethra's letter!

    2. :) You are going to be great in life if you decide you want to. Just you watch. I can bet every single earring I have on it (and that's a big deal because I love my earrings and change them every day. I repeat them many times because of this but nobody notices haha)

  9. Let me be honest hear for a sec. I can relate to this ENTIRELY! My past self ( I am ashamed to say this but my present self too) has been really like this. WOW. People really do have the same qualities a certain point of time. Anyways, I LOVED THIS ! It is so meaningful and really just awesome. Nice throwing Harry's quote in there.
